What is Munshi?
Munshi (Digital Munshi) is an AI case diary and hearing-reminder app made in Pakistan for Pakistani lawyers. You speak your cases in Urdu, Punjabi or English; Munshi writes the diary, reminds you before every hearing and sends tomorrow’s list on WhatsApp.
Does it work without internet inside court?
Yes. Your schedule, case files and reminders are stored on your phone and work with zero signal. Voice notes recorded offline are saved and processed automatically when you reconnect.
Does Munshi give legal advice?
No. Munshi organises your own diary — cases, dates, reminders and documents. It does not give legal advice, interpret law or predict outcomes, and it is not affiliated with any court, bar council or government body.
When do hearing reminders ring?
60, 30 and 10 minutes before each hearing by default, with an optional reminder at hearing time and a 7:30 AM morning summary. You can change these in Reminders & brief or for a single case.
What is the WhatsApp evening brief?
One WhatsApp message a day — at 6:00 PM by default — listing tomorrow’s hearings with court, time, purpose and documents needed. It is available on Solo, Chamber and founding plans and during the trial. Reply STOP or turn it off in settings to stop it.
Does the AI save cases without asking me?
Never. Munshi always shows a draft first. Fields the AI is unsure about are amber and marked “check”, and nothing is saved until you tap Approve.
Which phones does Munshi work on?
Android 10 or newer, including budget phones with 3 GB RAM. There is also a web app for computers, and an iPhone app is coming soon.
What if the AI gets a date wrong?
Every draft waits for your approval, and uncertain fields are marked amber. You can correct any field by tapping or speaking, and edit it later from the case. Always confirm dates against the official cause list.
Which courts and cities does Munshi work for?
Munshi is a personal diary, so it works for any court in Pakistan, from district courts to the High Courts and the Supreme Court. You choose your city and courts during setup.
Privacy & security
Is my case data private?
Yes. Your cases are encrypted in transit and at rest, and database rules mean only you — and your chamber, if you invite one — can read them. Munshi staff do not read your cases. Voice recordings are deleted after 30 days by default, and you can export or delete everything at any time.
What happens to my voice recordings?
Recordings are encrypted, private to you, used only to create your draft, and deleted after 30 days by default. They are processed by AI providers through APIs that, under their terms, do not use your data to train their models. Details are in the AI and voice processing policy.
Can Munshi staff read my cases?
No. Access to case data is restricted by database rules to you and your chamber. Our team does not browse case content. If you ask support to look at a specific problem, we ask for your permission first and access only what is needed.
What if I lose my phone?
Sign in on a new phone and your diary is restored from the encrypted cloud backup. Turn on the fingerprint app lock so nobody else can open Munshi on your phone.
Can I export my data?
Yes, at any time, as PDF or Excel from Privacy & security in the app — including when your plan has ended.
Does Munshi listen in the background?
No. The microphone works only after you press the mic, and recording stops when you stop it. Munshi does not read your contacts, SMS or WhatsApp chats, or track your location.
Languages
Does Munshi understand Punjabi?
Yes. You can speak Urdu, Punjabi, English or a mix in the same sentence — the way lawyers really speak in the kachehri. Words like peshi, tareekh, zamanat and kal/parson are understood, and anything the AI is unsure about is marked amber for you to check.
Is the app available in Urdu?
Yes. Choose English, Urdu (Nastaliq script, right-to-left) or Roman Urdu when you first open the app, and change it any time in Language & look.
Can I mix English legal terms with Urdu?
Yes — that is the normal way to dictate. “379 PPC”, “bail”, “arguments”, “FIR” and court names can sit inside an Urdu or Punjabi sentence.
Pricing & payments
How do I pay — JazzCash, Easypaisa, card or Google Play?
In the Android app you subscribe through Google Play, which accepts debit/credit cards and mobile carrier billing (Jazz, Telenor, Ufone, Zong). Annual and chamber plans can also be paid by bank transfer or Raast. Web checkout with cards, JazzCash and Easypaisa through our payment partner is coming soon.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Google Play subscriptions are cancelled in the Play Store (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions); you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Direct (bank/Raast) plans can be cancelled by messaging support. There are no cancellation fees.
What happens to my data if I stop paying?
Nothing is deleted. Your account becomes read-only: you can still view every case and export your data. Voice entry, reminders and the WhatsApp brief pause until you renew. Your data is never held hostage.
How does the 14-day free trial work?
You get every Solo feature for 14 days without entering a card. You are not charged automatically — you only pay if you choose a plan. If you don’t, your diary becomes read-only and nothing is deleted.
How much does Munshi cost?
Junior PKR 799/month, Solo PKR 1,500/month or PKR 15,000/year, Chamber PKR 3,500/month for 4 seats. The first 100 founding lawyers pay PKR 999/month, locked for 12 months. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial.
Do you give refunds?
Google Play purchases follow Google Play’s refund policy, and App Store purchases follow Apple’s. For direct payments, you can request a full refund within 7 days of your first payment. Our refund and cancellation policy has the details.
What is the founding-member price?
The first 100 lawyers who join get Solo features for PKR 999 a month, locked for 12 months, plus a direct line to the founder and a monthly feedback call.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes. Every payment gets a receipt by email or WhatsApp. Google Play also sends its own receipt to your Google account.
Teams
Can my clerk (munshi) use it?
Yes. On the Chamber plan your clerk gets a Clerk seat: he can add cases, hearings and outcomes for you and print cause lists, but he cannot delete records. You see his entries instantly.
How many people does the Chamber plan include?
Four seats — for example three lawyers and one clerk — with Owner, Lawyer and Clerk roles, 1,200 shared voice minutes and 20 GB of documents, for PKR 3,500 a month.
Is there a web app for the desk?
Yes. The web app runs in Chrome on a laptop or desktop, so clerks can enter cases with a keyboard and print the week’s cause list. It is installable as an app from the browser.
Will Munshi replace my clerk?
No. Munshi is designed to help your clerk, not replace him. Give him a Clerk seat — he keeps the register on Munshi, and you finally see it on your phone in court.
