What does FIR mean? ایف آئی آر / پرچہ

An FIR (First Information Report), often called “parcha”, is the report of a cognisable offence recorded by the police under section 154 of the CrPC.

An FIR carries a number, year and police station — for example “FIR 512/26, PS Ichhra” — and the offences, written as sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 (PPC).

Diaries record the FIR number, police station and sections so a case can be found quickly by any of them.

How lawyers say it

“FIR thana Ichhra di 512 number, 379 te 411 lagiyan ne.” — FIR no. 512, PS Ichhra, under sections 379 and 411 PPC.

In Munshi

When you say “fir” in a voice note, Munshi stores it as FIR so search and printed cause lists stay consistent.
