What does Nan-o-nafqa mean? نان و نفقہ

Nan-o-nafqa means maintenance — financial support a husband or father is required to provide to his wife and children.

Maintenance claims are heard by Family Courts under the West Pakistan Family Courts Act, 1964, and are also addressed by the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961.

Diary entries often track interim maintenance orders, evidence dates and the execution of decrees.

How lawyers say it

“Maintenance ka case hai, Imran Ali ke khilaf, do bachay hain.” — A maintenance case against Imran Ali; there are two children.
